Introduction to Puppy Care
Congratulations on your new family member! Add a puppy to your household, and your life will never be the same. Even if you’ve had other dogs before, each puppy is unique and brings her own personality and issues along in one furry package. She’s going to charm you. She’ll try your patience. She’s going to challenge your ability to keep up with her. She’s going to entertain you, aggravate you, and completely steal your heart.
When you’re gazing into those soft, dark eyes, and hearing yourself coo baby talk that you didn’t know you had in you, it’s easy to forget that your new puppy is a different species. Some puppy owners want their puppies to be like little furry people, but don’t sell your princess short! Dogs are very special creatures unto themselves. Understanding their special needs and motivations will go a long way toward helping you incorporate your puppy into your family for life.
Owning a puppy brings great responsibility. To do it right, it takes a lot of work. You’ll want to keep her healthy and safe, housetrain her, teach her family manners, show her how to get along with all different types of people and other animals, and more. Let’s get your new family member on the right track right from the start.
